Vietnamese Party Secretary Võ Văn Thưởng visits Singapore

Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Việt Nam and Secretary of Quảng Ngãi Province Party Committee Võ Văn Thưởng visits Singapore as the 40th Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow (LKYEF) from December 2 to December 7.

While in Singapore, Party Secretary Thưởng will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean.

He was hosted to a meal by Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu on 3 December.

Mr Thưởng will also meet Health Minister Gan Kim Yong and Education Minister Heng Swee Keat.

He will receive briefings by various social and economic agencies including the Ministry of Manpower, the Economic Development Board, JTC Corporation, and the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau.

Mr Thưởng will also visit a Meet-the-People Session.

Mr Eddie Teo, Chairman of LKYEF, will host a welcome dinner for the Vietnamese Party Secretary.

Mr Thưởng is the third LKYEF from Việt Nam.

Established in 1991, the LKYEF programme invites outstanding individuals for high-level exchange visits to Singapore.

The Fellows are chosen on the basis of their proven track records or extraordinary potential to contribute to the development of their nations as well as promote international understanding and goodwill.
